Adam Briggle

Associate Professor – University of North Texas

Adam Briggle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas. He is the author of A Field Philosopher’s Guide to Fracking (Liveright, 2015) and, with Robert Frodeman, Socrates Tenured: The Institutions of 21st Century Philosophy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016).

Adam founded and led the Denton Drilling Awareness Group, which conducted the successful 2014 campaign to ban hydraulic fracturing in the city of Denton, Texas. When the Texas legislature overturned the ban, Adam engaged in an act of civil disobedience and was arrested for blockading the first fracking site in Denton to operate after the ban’s demise. He continues to work on local energy issues and also serves as the Vice President of the Board for the Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
