Ed Miller is the Program Manager for the Environment at the Joyce Foundation. The Joyce Foundation supports efforts to protect the natural environment of the Great Lakes, to reduce poverty and violence in the region, and to ensure that its people have access to good schools, decent jobs, and a diverse and thriving culture. The foundation is interested in improving public policies because public systems such as education and welfare directly affect the lives of so many people, and because public policies help shape private sector decisions about jobs, the environment, and the health of our communities.
Prior to joining the Joyce Foundation, Miller served as the director of the Legacy Fund at the Henry Crown & Company, which funds projects to reduce global warming pollution in the Midwest and strengthen conservation and sustainable development in North and Central America. His other positions included program director at Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, which funds energy efficiency, renewable energy, and natural areas conservation projects, and program officer at the C.S. Mott Foundation in Michigan, which supports environmental programs around the Great Lakes. Miller earned a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics from Stanford University.
