Emily Nguyen-Vo was an intern at the Center for Humans and Nature’s New York office, where she worked with Bruce Jennings on the Ethics of Care and Place project. Emily received her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Emily’s research interests include environmental attitudes, narratives of place, and modernity/postmodernity. During her undergraduate career, she received research grants to study biodivinity and environmental narratives in both Varanasi and Ladakh, India. She spent the last year serving as a Fulbright Research Fellow at the Institute for Economic and Development Studies in Hanoi, Vietnam, where she studied the impacts of ecovillage developments in the rural, mountainous regions of Vietnam. Emily hopes to enter a PhD program in Anthropology to continue her work in SE Asian environmental anthropology.
