Gordon Miller lives in the foothills of the Cascades outside Seattle, where he is Professor Emeritus of Environmental Studies at Seattle University. His books include Nature’s Fading Chorus: Classic and Contemporary Writings on Amphibians and the photographically illustrated edition of Goethe’s botanical classic The Metamorphosis of Plants. His current work focuses mainly on interpreting the lives of frogs in light of the organismic philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead and kindred thinkers, to complement the conventional mechanistic view of this animal that has long served as a model for humans and to highlight their significance in the evolution of mind in nature.
