Lorna Bates is the Center for Humans and Nature’s Human Resources Guide. Lorna is an expert in the development and execution of human resources functions, particularly in the areas of organizational development, management development and training, employment, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, as well as health and safety. Her background and experience in the field is extremely diverse, spanning virtually every aspect of human resources for both mature organizations and early stage ventures operating across regional, national, and global spaces. Lorna has been (or currently serves as) an HR director, senior HR leader, and independent consultant.
 
At the Center, her wisdom is offered in support of relationships of staff members among each other, as well as staff relationships to the organization as a whole. Lorna also supports Center staff members in exploring their own professional growth/development directions. Lorna is gifted in her ability to define challenges, design key objectives, and guide the needed processes to move forward. 
 
She is a senior certified professional under the Society for Human Resources Management and has a certificate in mediation from DePaul University. In her free time, the native Chicagoan enjoys weekend bike rides with her husband, canning fresh fruit preserves and watching action movies.
