Michael Dowd

Sustainability Activist, Big History Evangelist

Michael Dowd is a veteran sustainability activist, religious naturalist, and big history evangelist. He is the author of the bestselling book, Thank God for Evolution, which was endorsed by six Nobel laureates and other science luminaries, including noted skeptics, and by religious leaders across the spectrum. He is also the host of the online conversation series, “The Advent of Evolutionary Christianity,” in which he interviewed thirty-eight Christian evolutionaries and scientists—including Nobel laureates and Templeton Prize-winners.

The Rev. Dowd and his wife, Connie Barlow, a science writer and evolutionary educator, have devoted their lives to sharing the meaningful, inspiring side of science in ways that offer practical tools for living and realistic hope for the future. Since April 2002 they have traveled North America non-stop and have addressed more than 1,600 secular and religious groups. Their work has been featured in numerous local and national media, including The NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, Discover, CNN, and ABC News.
