Michelle Maloney (BA/LLB, PhD) is a lawyer, Earth advocate, and the co-founder and national convenor of the Australian Earth Laws Alliance, or AELA. AELA’s mission is to increase the understanding and practical implementation of Earth centred governance—with a focus on law, economics, ethics and the arts—in order to transition modern societies towards a more harmonious relationship with the natural world.
Dr. Maloney is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law. She serves as Australia’s representative on the Executive Committee of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and was the chairperson of the Environmental Defenders Office Queensland for six years (2011–2017). Dr. Maloney lives in Brisbane, Australia.
