2024 Open Call
Humans & Nature Press Digital

The 2024 call for submissions for Humans & Nature Press Digital is open now through 11:59pm on July 15th!

We accept essays, poetry, and artwork. Honoraria are given for published work.

Humans & Nature Press Digital publishes creative work that explores and promotes human responsibilities in relation to the whole community of life.

For our 2024 open call for digital submissions, we welcome your writings and artwork on food!

As the Center for Humans & Nature initiates our farming and land care practices at Humans & Nature Farm, we invite you to join us in thinking about growing, harvesting, seed saving, reconnection, systems, sovereignty, justice, and climate adaptation—and the myriad ways of considering food.

How does food affect your relationships with land and people? What are the foods that nourish you and your community? Are there ancestral foodways or practices that inspire you?

This year’s open call focuses exclusively on work that relates to the theme of food. This is a shift from previous years where we have reviewed work relating to Humans & Nature’s broad publication themes. We are excited to focus our publication this year on celebrating our relationships with the land through food.
