Dear Reader,
We are honored to celebrate the launch of this new Question:
“What can we learn from the soil about our fundamental interconnectedness?”
This Question is part of the ongoing publication from Humans & Nature Press Digital, Questions for a Resilient Future, which asks and responds to questions for a more just and resilient future.
This year’s Question is curated by Editorial Fellow Dr. Akilah R. Martin and Board Member Orrin Williams with artwork by Malika Jackson.
Dr. Akilah R. Martin is the daughter to Laurel and James Martin. She is first and foremost in partnership with soil and water. She earned her BS degree in SoilScience from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and her Doctorate from Purdue University in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
Orrin Williams is the Food Systems Coordinator at the Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion, joining in July of 2015. Orrin is also the co-founder and executive director of the Center for Urban Transformation (CUT) in Chicago.
Malika Jackson’s works have been exhibited in galleries, festivals, and in group and solo shows. Jackson has taught in the Chicago Public Schools, Charter Schools, Community Organizations, and at the Hyde Park Art Center (HPAC).
