Steve Costa

Founder of the Geography of Hope

Steve Costa has forty-five years of experience in community organizing, including as a Vista volunteer, an aide to California Congressman Pete Stark, a program director for the Trust for Public Land, and executive director of the City of Oakland’s strategic planning office. He was co-owner of Point Reyes Books in Point Reyes Station, California, and founder of the Geography of Hope, which held annual ecological and environmental justice conferences over many years. He was also co-founder and chair of the Black Mountain Circle and is currently involved in projects in Marin County.
