William Glassley is the author of A Wilder Time: Notes From a Geologist at the Edge of the Greenland Ice (Bellevue Literary Press, 2018), which has been selected by Kirkus Reviews as one of the best Nature books of 2018. He is also a geologist at the University of California, Davis, and a Guest Researcher in the Institute for Geoscience, Earth System Petrology group, Aarhus University, Denmark. His interests include the origin and evolution of continents, and the synergistic relationships the natural world offers for the human experience of place. He has also been involved in renewable energy efforts and the principles of sustainability. His college-level textbook on geothermal energy—Geothermal Energy: Renewable Energy and the Environment (CRC Press, 2014)—is in its second edition. He currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
