Dear Reader,

“Sensoria! How we absorb the world. Blue green. Red hot. Buzz and growl. Bitter. Moldy death. Unlike words standing at a distance from their primal essences deep in our bodies, these, in Sensoria flirt and dance with their own awakening selves.”

— Brooke Williams, author of Encountering Dragonfly: Notes on the Practice of Re-enchantment and Mary Jane Wild: Two Walks and a Rant

The latest book from Humans & Nature Press, Sensoria: Attending to the Wonder and Vitality of Nature will be released on September 8, 2026 and is now available for preorder.
Edited by Bruce Jennings and Gavin Van Horn with poetry editor Heather Swan, Sensoria awakens our senses to what it means to be human in a more-than-human world.

With topics that range from plant communication to bees’ sense of beauty, animism, and hedgehogs, the essays and poems in Sensoria offer a sensory feast that includes and goes beyond human perceptions by honoring and attending to more-than-human lifeworlds.
